NYFE Summary
Immigrants from Hungary formed the congregation and outgrew several earlier meeting places before building their own synagogue. It remained here until 1975. The building was converted into housing a decade later.
The pale front is divided into three bays by flat columns. Carved moldings frame the windows, and rows of small stone blocks line the cornice and triangular pediment. Its small size reflects a neighborhood where many congregations occupied narrow lots.
