NYFE Summary

This was the home of the Chamber of Commerce of the State of New York. The organization had been founded at Fraunces Tavern in 1768. Its later headquarters gave the city’s merchants a purpose-built meeting place near Wall Street.

Tall Ionic columns rise above the heavy stone base. A copper-edged mansard roof and three large dormers finish the front. The low marble building provides a close view of these details between its much taller neighbors.
