NYFE Summary

The Colony Club commissioned a house for women’s social, artistic and athletic activities. Its plan included assembly rooms, a gymnasium, a swimming pool, dining rooms and a roof garden. The American Academy of Dramatic Arts moved here in 1963.

Tall arched windows mark the former lounge above a long shallow balcony. Pale stone frames the openings in the red-brick walls. A pierced railing runs below the roof, where five dormer windows once lit the dining room.
