NYFE Summary

Old Slip once held a market beside a filled-in wharf. Police occupied rooms in an earlier market building before this purpose-built station replaced it. The First Precinct left in 1973.

The freestanding structure resembles an Italian palace. Large arches and deeply cut limestone blocks mark its lower floor. Above a central window, the city seal shows a windmill, beavers and flour barrels.
