NYFE Summary

The hotel served travelers arriving near the Hudson River docks and later housed sailors between voyages. After the port's passenger and shipping activity declined, it became a single-room-occupancy hotel. The corner Keller Bar also became a meeting place for gay customers.

The brick upper floors and stone window surrounds remain part of the waterfront streetscape. The old hotel helps explain a period when the riverfront supported lodging houses, working sailors and bars as well as warehouses.
