NYFE Summary

The department store moved here as Broadway became a major shopping street. Slender iron supports allowed large display windows. Steam elevators and ready-made clothing were features when the store opened.

A tall roof pavilion marks the diagonal corner. Balconies, columns and decorated window surrounds continue along East 20th Street. The store moved to Fifth Avenue in 1914; the surviving corner was then separated from the rest of its former premises.
