NYFE Summary

The savings bank began on this corner in a rented basement. As its business grew, it bought the property and moved upstairs. It eventually replaced the older building with a headquarters that gave the institution a much larger street presence.

Columns and triangular pediments frame both street fronts, with a low dome rising behind them. The treatment of the corner made the bank visible from two busy streets. Its former banking role can still be understood from the exterior.
