NYFE Summary

The jewelry firm moved here from Union Square as fashionable shops shifted north. It later moved again to Fifth Avenue and 57th Street in 1940.

The design was modeled on Venice’s Palazzo Grimani. Large columns and arches group several actual floors into three broad levels. The long East 37th Street side shows the same arrangement, ending beneath a deep projecting cornice.
