NYFE Summary
Gorham brought its silverware showrooms, offices and workshops together as fashionable shops moved north along Fifth Avenue. The building itself advertised the company’s metalworking, with bronze friezes and balconies made by Gorham. Russeks later used it as a women’s clothing store.
A broad copper cornice projects far beyond the roofline. Rows of columns, sculpted reliefs and metal balconies divide the upper stories. The long side arcade survives even though the Fifth Avenue shopfronts have changed.
