NYFE Summary

German immigrants formed clubs for recreation and mutual support in the neighborhood once called Little Germany. This clubhouse brought together twenty-four shooting companies. Marksmanship was a social activity, and the society maintained community ties as members moved elsewhere in the city.

A target and crossed rifles remain high on the front. Elaborate dormer windows rise from the steep roof above. The building's ornament makes its original purpose visible even though the neighborhood has changed.
