NYFE Summary

A library from an Italian ducal palace was taken apart and shipped here during World War I. Its woodwork, fireplace and high painted ceiling became part of the family home. The L-shaped building wraps around a courtyard behind an iron gate.

Edith Fabbri gave the house for use as an Episcopal retreat in 1949. The former drawing room became a chapel, retaining a Renaissance ceiling and an eighteenth-century altar. Worship and announced cultural programs continue alongside the retreat house’s private activities.
