NYFE Summary

Harry Frazee built this house for his productions and offices. He also owned the Boston Red Sox and sold Babe Ruth to the Yankees. The theater’s name recalls Longacre Square, the earlier name of Times Square.

WOR used it for radio and television from 1943 to 1953 before live theater returned. A restoration in 2007–08 repaired the exterior and recovered decorative plaster inside. Its broad, pale street front has tall windows beneath arched pediments.
