NYFE Summary
The tower borrowed its form from the bell tower in Venice’s St. Mark’s Square. It became the world’s tallest building when completed and held that position for four years.
Four large clock faces sit below an open arcade and a steep pyramidal roof. A major renovation in the 1960s simplified the walls but retained the clocks, upper arches, spire and lantern.
