NYFE Summary

Producers Alex Aarons and Vinton Freedley commissioned this theater for their shows and offices. Its original name, Alvin, combined parts of their first names. The opening show, Funny Face, featured Fred and Adele Astaire.

The theater took Neil Simon’s name in 1983 after Brighton Beach Memoirs played here. His Biloxi Blues followed in 1985. The red-brick frontage, tall arched windows and pale trim remain visible above the marquee.
