NYFE Summary

Before coming to Coney Island, this tower carried riders at the New York World’s Fair. Its design drew on towers used to train parachutists. Passengers rode in pairs beneath open parachutes, with guide wires controlling their descent.

The Tilyou family brought the ride to Steeplechase Park after the fair closed. Although it no longer carries passengers, the open steel tower remains visible from the boardwalk. Its broad crown held twelve separate parachute drop points.
