NYFE Summary

Seagram president Samuel Bronfman and his daughter Phyllis Lambert selected the designers for the company’s New York headquarters. Bronze strips and tinted glass form a regular grid across the tower. The exterior gives a clear expression of repeated office floors.

The tower stands back from Park Avenue behind a stone plaza with pools. This open foreground lets people see the full building from the street. The relationship between tower and plaza influenced later office developments and the city’s approach to public space.
