NYFE Summary

Lee and J. J. Shubert named this theater for their brother Sam, who died in a train accident. It was planned with the neighboring Booth Theatre. The two houses share a coordinated exterior but have separate auditoriums.

The passage beside them became Shubert Alley. Scratched plaster decoration covers parts of the outside, while painted theatrical scenes and decorative plaster fill the auditorium. The rooms above the theater became offices for the Shubert organization.
