NYFE Summary

The museum's main gallery is a continuous ramp around an open rotunda. Instead of passing through a series of level rooms, visitors move along a slope with views across the central space. The skylight brings light into the rotunda, while ceiling heights change along the route.

Look at how the walls meet the artwork. On the lower levels they are vertical; farther up, they lean back like an easel. Paintings mounted upright can seem to float away from the wall. Even the small marks in the floor have a purpose: they are anchor points used to secure sculptures.
