NYFE Summary
The parish first served German, Irish and Italian immigrants. As Harlem changed, it became a mission serving African American Catholics and later an independent parish again. The congregation continues to use the church for worship.
Red brick alternates with pale green glazed brick and gray terra cotta across the front. Blue backgrounds set off religious reliefs, while pointed arches and densely patterned moldings frame the doors and windows. The colored ceramics distinguish the church from its brick neighbors.
