NYFE Summary

The St. George Theatre was built for both films and live vaudeville. Its interior includes stained-glass chandeliers, murals, tiled fountains and winding staircases. A cantilevered balcony keeps supporting columns out of the audience’s sightlines.

After years of decline, Rosemary Cappozalo and her daughters, Luanne Sorrentino and Doreen Cugno, began restoring the theater in 2004. It returned to use for concerts, films and other performances. The finale of School of Rock was filmed here before that restoration. Attending an event gives visitors access to the auditorium as a working theater.
