NYFE Summary
The League for Political Education created this hall as a place for public discussion. Six women had founded the league after a failed campaign for women’s suffrage in New York. Its programs helped people learn about government and public affairs.
The radio program America’s Town Meeting of the Air began here in 1935 and carried debates to a national audience. Concerts became another part of the hall’s work. The auditorium continues to present music, comedy, talks and other live performances.
