NYFE Summary

The gold-colored dome recalls the bank’s earlier headquarters in Williamsburg. This later tower brought the institution to downtown Brooklyn. Its upper floors step back because the city’s 1916 zoning rules required tall buildings to leave more light and air at street level.

At the base, large arched windows mark the former banking hall. Inside are marble columns and a high ceiling with a mosaic of the zodiac and night sky. The hall now operates as Skylight One Hanson, an event venue, so interior access depends on the event. The dome, clock faces and setbacks remain visible from outside.
