About Starrett City
Starrett City was part of New York’s Mitchell-Lama housing program. The city comptroller’s historical inventory records occupancy beginning in 1974. Its buildings and grounds are residential; view them from public streets and follow posted access rules.
The first Starrett City Sun appeared in June 1974, before the early housing blocks filled with residents. The newspaper’s archive followed the development of local schools, a recreation center and shopping. It continues as the Spring Creek Sun.
