The fall 2027 expansion includes all of Staten Island; local seat totals will depend on providers and demand.
Staten Island is included in the city’s planned expansion of free 2-K for fall 2027. The October 19 announcement adds 10,000 seats across the city and extends the program to all of Staten Island.
At the announcement, child-care director Emmy Liss said exact district seat counts would depend on provider interest and expected demand. The city described full-day, full-year care as the default model and said family application information would follow.
