NYFE Summary

The building served several Jewish congregations before its last congregation dispersed in the 1970s. It then stood abandoned and suffered vandalism. Sculptor Angel Orensanz bought it in 1986 and began repairing the interior.

The foundation uses the building as an artist’s studio and a venue for exhibitions, concerts and other events. From the sidewalk, visitors can see the pointed windows and central doorway of the former synagogue. Interior access depends on the foundation’s program.
