NYFE Summary

A developer used this cottage to sell houses in the planned Fiske Terrace neighborhood. Its position beside the railway helped advertise a suburban home with a connection to the city. The little sales office later became a station house.

A broad roof curves outward over a wraparound porch. Rustic porch supports and a brick chimney give the building the appearance of a small house rather than a typical subway entrance. The cottage shows how housing sales and railway development worked together.
