NYFE Summary

Telephone exchanges and offices shared this building when New York Telephone brought six central offices together. The equipment and staff required a much larger home than an ordinary office block.

Look for fruit, vegetables and animals in the stone ornament near street level. They recall Washington Market, the produce district that previously occupied this part of the waterfront. The broad lower floors rise into a stepped tower.
