NYFE Summary

This was Cass Gilbert's first building in New York City, before his better-known Woolworth Building. Its design treats a tall office block as three distinct sections rather than a single repeated wall.

A solid stone base gives way to red brick and a brightly colored crown. Look up for green and blue terra-cotta details, lions' heads and the face of Hermes, the ancient god associated with commerce.
