NYFE Summary

Founded in 1899, this was the world’s first children’s museum. Its collections grew through donations from individuals and the Brooklyn Museum. Objects include dolls, shells, rocks, insects and clothing, used to help children investigate nature and people’s lives.

The museum now offers three floors of interactive exhibits and cultural and science programs. Its approach encourages children to handle materials, ask questions and learn with their caregivers. The main exhibits and programs are designed for children from six months to ten years old.
