NYFE Summary
Eero Saarinen designed the tower for CBS, with Kevin Roche and John Dinkeloo overseeing completion after his death. Reinforced concrete made a different structural approach possible from the steel-framed glass towers nearby.
Dark granite covers V-shaped piers around the walls. From an angle the piers hide much of the glass, making the tower appear more solid. An open plaza separates the building from the sidewalk.
