NYFE Summary

City Island's shipyards and sail lofts supplied work for generations of island residents. The museum preserves that history through boats, tools, photographs and navigation instruments. Its sail-making gallery includes workbenches, a sewing machine and actual sails.

Other rooms follow life beyond the waterfront. School registers, graduation photographs and report cards record local education, while maps and street photographs show changes in the neighborhood. The Nautical Room includes a partially completed boat and a sailing canoe made on City Island.
