NYFE Summary

The eye surgeon who lived here was an abolitionist and helped organize the 79th Highlanders to fight for the Union in the Civil War. His influence on the surrounding area led it to be known for a time as Elliottville.

Local stone surrounds an entrance with diamond-shaped colored-glass sidelights and a fan-patterned transom. Scalloped wooden trim follows the steep gables. Planting partly screens the house from the street.
