NYFE Summary

Famous Players-Lasky used this building as its eastern film-production headquarters. Silent features and later sound films were made here before Paramount moved its own production work to California. Independent filmmakers continued to use the studio.

During World War II, the Army turned the complex into a center for training and other films. Large windows and deep bays give the long concrete street front its industrial scale. The historic building is part of the Astoria production complex rather than an open museum.
