NYFE Summary
The ASPCA brought its Brooklyn shelter, offices and ambulance garage together here. Staff rescued injured animals, investigated abuse and inspected places where animals were kept or sold. The building also served people adopting pets and learning how to care for them.
Two large arches frame the former shelter and ambulance entrances. A smaller stone doorway between them carries the society’s seal, showing an angel protecting a fallen horse. Patterned brickwork and small ceramic accents continue above the upper windows.
