NYFE Summary

This block was once known as Furriers’ Street. The surrounding district housed businesses that made and traded fur garments. District labor campaigns included a 1926 strike that won a 40-hour week and a 1932 strike that secured equal treatment and pay for Black workers.

Two stone foxes sit above the entrance, their tails wrapped in front of them. A clock and arched metal doorway mark the base. Higher up, columns, urns and a temple-shaped section interrupt the brick wall.
