NYFE Summary

After President John Tyler died, his widow, Julia Gardiner Tyler, made this house her legal residence with their seven children. Her mother had acquired the property for her. Secretary of State William M. Evarts later bought it.

Four fluted columns rise the full height of the front porch and support a low triangular pediment. Small tooth-like blocks line the cornice around the house. The street view shows the former country residence among later homes.
