NYFE Summary

The tower was planned for the radio company RCA, then transferred to General Electric before completion. Its decoration still refers to broadcasting and electrical energy. Figures near the top wear rays that represent the speed and power of radio.

The upper crown combines pointed forms, curved tracery and gold-glazed details. The brick colors were chosen to relate to neighboring St. Bartholomew’s Church. From the sidewalk, the rounded corner and richly worked entrance show how the decoration continues down to street level.
