NYFE Summary
The museum grew out of a children’s expo held at the Javits Center in 1986. Its organizers wanted a place where families could explore Jewish history and customs throughout the year. The exhibits are designed for children of all faiths and backgrounds.
Children can climb on a giant loaf of bread and shop with small carts in a pretend kosher supermarket. A model village introduces the cycle of Jewish holidays. Other galleries use biblical stories, maps and activities to explain traditions and Jewish life around the world.
