NYFE Summary

The nickname followed the funeral of actor George Holland in 1870. After another church refused the service, Joseph Jefferson was directed to the little church around the corner. Its welcome to actors later made it home to the Episcopal Actors’ Guild.

A covered gateway opens toward a garden and a group of red-brick buildings. The church grew through a series of additions, including chapels and a tower. Beside it, the rectory has a projecting window bay, a balcony and a slate roof.
