NYFE Summary

Silk companies used the building for offices and showrooms, with the Cheney firm occupying the lower floors. Geometric metal patterns frame the broad display windows and entrances. These designs contrast with the more traditional ornament high above.

Brick strips run upward between recessed window panels. Terra-cotta decoration gathers around the upper windows and roofline. The related lobby uses marble, bronze and painted mythological figures, including Leda holding silk-spinning tools, connecting its decoration to the original textile business.
