NYFE Summary

This family burial ground once stood on the Moore farm outside the village of Newtown. Fieldstone, brownstone and marble marked the graves. After years of neglect, workers reset the surviving stones at the eastern end of the property in 1936.

Augustine Moore’s fieldstone marker is dated 1769. The cemetery now shares the site with a volunteer-run community garden. The Queens Historical Society owns the property, and local volunteers maintain it.
