NYFE Summary

The club grew out of a group of yachtsmen interested in racing and naval design. Its members backed the yacht America, whose victory in Britain gave the America's Cup its name. Their later clubhouse made sailing imagery a major part of its street front.

Three projecting windows resemble the decorated sterns of old sailing ships. Carved shells, seaweed and dolphins surround them. These details can be studied from the sidewalk without entering the private club.
