NYFE Summary
An early churchyard and a neighboring private cemetery eventually merged here. Those buried in the combined ground include local residents and veterans of four wars, from the War of 1812 through World War I.
Many of the stone markers are white marble, carved in different shapes and designs. Some soldiers’ remains were moved here from Fort Schuyler and Hart Island. The cemetery later became part of the city’s parks system.
