NYFE Summary
Anna and Oswald Ottendorfer paired health care with reading in two neighboring buildings. The clinic offered treatment to German-speaking residents, while the library lent books in German and English. The library later joined the New York Public Library.
Red brick and terra cotta tie the buildings together. Round arches frame their entrances and windows. Portrait busts of physicians identify the former clinic beside the library, which remains in use for books and community programs.
