NYFE Summary

Rabbi Bernard Drachman and Jonas Weil helped establish a congregation that combined Orthodox religious practice with American community life. It developed as many other Upper East Side congregations adopted Reform Judaism.

Horseshoe arches, patterned terracotta and a large rose window fill the orange-brick front. The two towers have different details. Their original upper stages and bulbous domes were removed, leaving the shorter outline seen today.
