NYFE Summary

Restaurateur Thomas Healy commissioned a group of small homes inspired by the village setting of a popular stage comedy. Houses facing an inner pedestrian walk were sheltered by another row facing the surrounding streets. The arrangement created a small residential enclave within a much larger city block.

The street-facing buildings combine brick and stone lower walls with stucco, gables and decorative timbering above. Round brick bays mark the ends of the inner walk. These details can be seen at the perimeter without entering residents' private space.
