NYFE Summary
Animal keeping in the park began with a small menagerie by 1890. The present zoo opened in 1935. The Wildlife Conservation Society later took over its management and reopened it in 1993 after a full renovation, with habitats designed for close viewing.
The Discovery Trail leads past red pandas, dingoes and birds. Other exhibits house small wild cats, while Sea Lion Court hosts keeper sessions. The zoo also breeds Chinese big-headed turtles as part of its conservation work.
