NYFE Summary

Olivia Sage used part of her inheritance to create a foundation that studied housing, work and social welfare. This headquarters brought its researchers, library and meeting rooms together. A connected annex later housed a school of social research and other welfare organizations.

The rough pink-brown stone and arcaded upper windows give the front the outline of an Italian palace. Carved panels above street level show subjects including education and justice. The original top-floor arches marked the library, while the lower floors held offices.
