NYFE Summary
This branch was created to relieve overcrowding at the nearby Brownsville library. It originally admitted only children. The waiting lines were so long that neighboring shops complained about children blocking their entrances.
Storybook scenes decorate the fireplace tiles, and carved rabbit heads finish the wooden benches. These details remain from the children’s library. The branch later expanded to serve readers of all ages.
