NYFE Summary
This was the last purpose-built headquarters of Tammany Hall, the Democratic political organization that had shaped city government for generations. Its influence declined in the 1930s. In 1943, an affiliate of the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union bought the building.
Red brick, pale stone trim and a columned central section face Union Square. Later tenants included a theater and a film school. A modern glass roof now rises behind the preserved street front.
